Kelly Burns

Kelly Burns is the intersection.  She holds dear the place where the head and the heart meet and has spent her life cultivating generative heart spaces in both spiritual and academic settings.

Kelly is originally from the heartland-Kansas City, and calls Darling Yoga her original sangha home.  She spent the majority of her teaching career in Kansas City, Kansas at her beloved Sumner Academy and also as a professor in the School of Graduate Studies at Rockhurst University.  In 2013, she moved with her family to Colorado to fulfill a lifelong dream.  Currently, Kelly serves many layers of teachers and students as the Secondary Literacy Curriculum Facilitator for Poudre School District, Professor in the Department of English at Colorado State University, as well as community yoga and mindfulness teacher. Her proudest achievement in the last year is the facilitation of her latest course offering in an academic setting, Mindful Leadership for School Administrators.  She recently offered her first keynote address on Mindfulness for Educators in April of 2018 at the EVICS regional conference in Estes Park, Colorado.

Kelly offers an honest, grounded experience in Arkitekt, with thoughtful questions often situated in one of the many books she has read and considered.  Her life has been one of great gifts, and also many many familial challenges. You can expect to feel held and heard when sitting in the circle with Kelly.

You must learn one thing:
the world was made to be free in.

Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.
